"Keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel..."

Day 3

Elkhart, IN to Jackson, MN (601 miles, 1,285 total)

It was "up and at 'em" early this morning to get a jump on the longest day of driving so far. After a quick breakfast at the RV park it was farewell to Indiana and hello to a million hours on I-90 en route to Minnesota.

Most of the day was mile upon mile of this...

I tried to break up the midwest monotony by reminding Jon every few miles of how fast he was going and why he should slow down. He found this critique most helpful and expressed his gratitude in a variety of four-lettered ways.

As we neared our final destination, I got this text message from Kathy, the Harvest Host whose farm we would be overnighting at in our rig in Minnesota.

Something to look forward to indeed!

Pulling in quite late at night, we were greeted at the farmhouse with our welcome basket which was stocked with a eggs laid just two days earlier, that heavenly sourdough loaf, and some homemade apple jelly.

Once we hooked up, Jon wasted no time in firing up the Weber and flexing his cooking muscles. I cheered him on from inside the heated rig.

He put on a fantastic first "meal on wheels" proving once again that, no matter where we are, we dine (and drink!) well.
